AED
offers internship opportunities for college students and those
interested in experiencing hands on intercultural and humanitarian
work in a South Asian culture. You will return with fresh passion
for helping people, first hand knowledge of working along side
new friends in a foreign culture and a broadened understanding
of the world we live in. AED internships provide a varied experience

Child
Education Development
Our
children love the attention, ministry and compassion shown to
them when interns from the USA come to share their compassion.
You can make a difference in the lives of these children by
developing relationships, and by participating in their emotional,
academic and spiritual development.

Medical
Volunteers
Those
with medical training can come and provide health care, check
ups, and assistance with the overall well being of the children.

Construction
We
are currently in the midst of construction of our boy’s
orphan home. With future plans for a medical clinic, vocational
training center, camp and new schools, we will be in need of
volunteer help for years to come. We can use skilled labor in
various aspects of construction. We can also use unskilled labor
for those who just want to get their hands dirty and be a part
of building something that will make a difference.

Office
Administration
Those with clerical and or publishing
skills will find opportunities by working with our office staff.
Administrative and communication skills and intercultural relationships
are developed through this avenue.

Humanitarian
Teams
AED hosts many US teams who come to assist
our work. Our interns work side by side with these teams and
are a valuable asset in helping the members of these teams to
acclimate to a new culture and climate.

Reasonable
Costs
Housing
and meals are very reasonable and included in the $150 per week
cost for internships. AED related transportation within the
country is included. Airfare to Sri Lanka varies in cost and
is the responsibility of the intern to arrange.

Cultural
Experience
The
South Asia culture is nothing like anywhere else in the world.
Learning to be sensitive to the differences in religion and
culture while demonstrating genuine compassion is a life changing
experience that you will never forget. You will return with
a new perspective that will enrich your view of humanitarian
work and the world.
